Madelana's Hat
Pure Wool Aran weight, 100 grams (including Pom Pom)

4.5 mm needles circular and/or double pointed


Cast on 108 stitches using 4.5mm needles work Knit 2, Purl 2 rib for 10 cm

Work Twisted  2 by 2 Rib for 15 cm as follows:

Row 1: Knit 2nd stitch first and first stitch second
Row 2: Knit 2, Purl 2
Row 3: Knit 2, Purl 2
Row 4: Knit 2, Purl 2

After Row 1 of the Twisted Rib pattern decrease as follows:

Purl 2 together around then work 2 more rounds
Knit 2 together around then work 2 more rounds
Knit 2 together around then work 1 round
Pull yarn through all remaining stitches and fasten off

Tamberet

1 ball Estelle Murrina or Cascade Pacific Chunky
Gauge: 12 st. = 4”/10 cm, set of 6mm double pointed needles, Stitch marker
Size: Medium 20 to 22”/51  to 56 cm, Large 22 to 23”/56 to 58 cm 

BRIM
Using double pointed needles evenly cast on 60 (66) stitches, loosely. 
Place stitch marker at the end of the 3rd needle. 
Make sure stitches are not twisted prior to knitting in the round.

Rounds1-4: Knit
Round 5:*k9(10),increase  one (knit into the front and back of the stitch)* repeat, 66 (72 ) sts.
Round 6 and all even rounds: Knit 
Round 7:*k10(11),increase one (knit into the front and back of the stitch)* repeat, 72 (78 ) sts.
Round 9:*k11(12),increase one (knit into the front and back of the stitch)* repeat, 78 (84 ) sts.
Round 11:*k12(13),increase one (knit into the front and back of the stitch)* repeat, 84 (90 ) sts.
Round 13:*k13(14),increase one in next stitch (knit into the front and back of the stitch)*, repeat, 90 (96 ) sts.
Rounds 14-18:Knit

CROWN 
Continue placing stitch marker to denote beginning and end of a round.
Round 1: *k13, k2tog,* repeat, 84 (90) sts. remain.
Round 2 and all even rounds: knit

Round 3: *k12, k2tog,* repeat, 78 (84) sts. remain.
Round 5: *k11, k2tog,* repeat, 72 (78) sts. remain.
Round 7: *k10, k2tog,* repeat, 66 (72) sts. remain.
Round 9: *k9, k2tog,* repeat, 60 (66) sts. remain.

Round 11: *k8, k2tog,* repeat, 54 (60) sts. remain.
Round 13: *k7, k2tog,* repeat, 48 (54) sts. remain.
Round 15: *k6, k2tog,* repeat, 42 (48) sts. remain.
Round 17: *k5, k2tog,* repeat, 36 (42) sts. remain.

Round 19: *k4, k2tog,* repeat, 30 (36) sts. remain.
Round 21: *k3, k2tog,* repeat, 24 (30) sts. remain.

Final round: Knit 2 together all around, 15 stitches, cut yarn about 12cm long, then thread off the needles through the open stitches and draw closed.

Ribbed Sisu Hat (pictured at right using colour 7648)

Sizes (1) 2-4 (6-8) 10-12 years (adult)
Yarn: Sisu (80% wool, 20% nylon, 50 g = approx. 160 m)
Yarn required: (1) 1 (1) 2 (2) balls
Knitting needles : 3mm double pointed
Cast on (114) 120 (126) 132 (138) sts.
Work ribbing (k3,p3) around until the toque measures (23) 24 (25) 27 (28) cm.
Decrease as follows: *work the k sts k1, k2tog and work the p sts p1, p2 tog*, repeat from* to * around. Work 3 rows (=k2, p2) ribbing around.
Next row: *K2 tog, p2 tog*, repeat from * to * around. Work 3 rows (k1, p1) ribbing around.
Next row: *K2 tog*, repeat from * to * around. K 1 row around.
Cut the yarn, thread it through rem sts, gather and fasten strand well.

New Shell Scarf 
This is a very traditional pattern, we used the remnants of yarn from knitting socks and added the solid green to make the correct length

100g sock yarn
3.75mm needles
Cast on 61 stitches.
Row 1: Knit 1, (yarn forward, knit 3, knit 3 together, knit 3, yarn forward, knit 1) to end.
Row 2: Knit.

Repeat until scarf is desired length (about 60 inches), you will notice I used less and less of the multicoloured yarn as the knitting progressed.

Lace Weight Mohair Ruffle
Lightweight mohair yarn, 25g
8mm needles
Cast on 96 stitches. Knit 1 row.
Knit 3 more rows increasing by knitting into the front and back of each stitch on each row. You will have over 700 stitches!
Cast off very loosely.

Rimu DK, 250 grams (5 balls)
60% Merino, 40% Possum, 128m per 50 g
4mm needles
Cast 57 stitches and work knit 3, purl 3 rib.
